What is it about living in San Francisco that makes the Fog City Divas so creative? Is it the cool, gray fog, the fresh air off the ocean, the steep hills, or those romantic Victorian homes that harbor a century of secrets? Ten different writers, ten different styles, from historical to sexy contemporary to romantic suspense. Ten different points of view from women who among them have published more than 100 novels. Who are the Divas?

After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in English Literature, Jami Alden's writing appeared in many software marketing brochures and corporate web sites. But she quickly realized writing romance was a lot more fun. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her socially well adjusted alpha male husband, her son, and two dogs that patiently listen to dialogue and help her work out plot points. When she's not writing sexy romance, she enjoys running, reading, yoga and a borderline unhealthy love of the Food Network. Visit Jami's website.

Before writing erotic romance, Bella Andre got a degree in Economics from Stanford, worked as a marketing director, and strutted hundreds of stages as a rock star in big boots and short skirts. Her two upcoming books were inspired by the beautiful northern California wine country. Visit Bella's website.

They say that "eight is enough" and kids are "cheaper by the dozen," but Allison Brennan has her hands full with just five. After the last bedtime story is read, and her husband has fallen asleep in front of the TV, Allison writes dark and gritty romantic thrillers. When she's not playing the role of soccer mom or playing video games, she studies the psyche of serial killers. Her 2006 debut trilogy, The Prey, The Hunt and The Kill, hit the NY Times bestseller list. She's now writing her second back-to-back trilogy due out in early 2007. Visit Allison's website.

Barbara Freethy sends ordinary women on extraordinary adventures with really sexy men in her sinfully rich contemporaries that are filled with romance, secrets and suspense and usually plotted over vast quantities of chocolate. Visit Barbara's website.

Carol Grace writes single title novels set in exotic locales (which she is forced to research in person with her family in tow) as well as series romance featuring sheiks, Cinderellas and lonely millionaires seeking love and happiness. Her own happiness comes from life in her hilltop home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Visit Carol's website.

Candice Hern
loves living in modern San Francisco, but prefers to write stories set in Regency England. Maybe there's a connection between San Francisco fog and London fog, both romantic settings. Whatever the reason, she happily leaves the tales of contemporary life to the other Divas while she dallies with sexy rakes and rogues of the past. Visit Candice's website.

Monica McCarty began her love affair with the Scottish Highlands in the most unlikely of places: a comparative legal history course at Stanford Law School. After a short, but enjoyable, stint practicing law, she realized that mixing a legal career with her husband’s transitory career as a professional baseball player was not exactly a match made in heaven. So she “traded” in her legal briefs for dramatic, emotionally-intense Scottish Historical Romances with sexy, alpha heroes. Visit Monica's website.

When Kate Moore is not teaching high school students to draft the perfect essay about Homer, Shakespeare, or Jane Austen, she writes lyrical historicals about heroines opening their hearts to lonely outsiders, and the occasional contemporary romantic comedy. Visit Kate's website.

Known for her emotional, evocative stories, Brenda Novak writes romantic suspense and contemporary romance. When she isn't ramping up to meet the next deadline, she's attending a sporting event for one of her five children or raising money for diabetes research (Brenda's youngest has Type 1). Determined to see a cure in her lifetime, Brenda runs an annual on-line auction at her Web site (www.brendanovak.com) every May, where shoppers can bid on over 600 items, many of which can't be found anywhere else.

For a long time, controlled chaos ruled Karin Tabke's life. Busy mother of four, owner of her own successful business and wife to a street cop, she harbored thoughts of twisting plots and hot romantic scenes. Now, with only one child left at home and hubby retired from law enforcement, Karin pounds out those steamy scenes at her keyboard.

Still semi distracted by the near daily crisis’ of her children (it doesn’t get easier when they move out, folks), Karin manages to turn out stories about empowered women and the hot cops (and hot Knights) who penetrate their lives. A full time writer, Karin draws on a lifetime of stories and backdrops that few outside of the law enforcement community ever see, let alone hear about. Controlled chaos now reins supreme through the pages she writes where hot heroes serve, protect, and pleasure from page one to The End. Visit Karin's website.
